Final day for Dad...

Had a quick flight for myself off the bigger sand dune this morning before the drive up to Wash DC. I stopped for lunch in "Colonial Williamsburg"... Now on Air France to Paris and back to "La SCR" to see what I can make of it now that it is a bit back on track. On to a new phase as well for myself... Spoke to the boys a few minutes ago and they sounded fine. Job done!

Kitty hawk Kites! Wow!

Hang Gliding can lead to... anything! Gliders, kites, kayaks, etc, etc... What an operation! Maybe I should go back to hang gliding. And climbing up and down the sand dunes will get me back in shape... Fast!

Getting settled

Well the boys are now together and have moved in to their new "home" for the next 5wks. They share a room at a house belonging the the KW school and operation... It starrted as a hang gliding school in 1976 and does about 10000 "students" at least "discovery of flyng" initiations on the forgiving sand dunes... And has become a major multiple sports activites and shops operation with 17 locations here on the "OBX" (Outer Banks). So they have "houses" for their instructors and personnel. All young and "having a great time...". The boys have been set up in one of those houses and will be students and "mooses" to help out. Maybe if they get good they will be able to come back one day as insructors... More later.

En attendant le Storm...

Storms supposed to arrive by Greyhound at Norfolk... Ans the weather's supposed to get worse... Meanwhile Hunter and Flynt are hanging out on the pier at sunset watching everyone fish. Right off the pier they fish BIG BIG fish. Incredible.

Dommage que l'on ne peut pas vous montrer les "documents" fondateurs (Declaration of Independance, Constitution, Bill of Rights) que l'on a vu au National Archives. Ce qui impressionne c'est que ces hommes auraient pu si facilement garder le pouvoir... pour eux-mêmes ! et au contraire ils ont établi la prémière démocratie de l'homme "By the People, For the People...". Etonnant.

Hunter is everywhere !

Hunter est partout... Ashville est connu comme le coin le plus montagneux et vert et cool... de la Caroline du Nord.

Plus dociles... les Raindeers!

L'homme a pas mal detruit sur son passage et sa conquête de l'Ouest... mais la Nature reste encore bien présente aux Etats Unis pas loin des metropoles. Toujours sur la Skyline drive.

Le danger nous guette partout ... A Bear!

Un ours au bord de la route... qui visiblement était plus préoccupé à chercher ses "berries" que des 10 voitures stoppés sur le bord de la route.

Les Appalaches

Vue sur la Shennandoan Valley (où il y a eu de nombreuses batailles de la Civil War...) et les crêtes, jurassiques des Appalachian Mountains. En fait la chaine a entre 40 et 50 million d'années (les Alpes en ont 4 ou 5...) et étaient une fois la "moraine" de l'ère glacière plus hautes aue Everest!... C'est bucolique aujourd'hui sur la Skyline Drive dans la Parc Nationale.

SCR... et AMONIT... à Washington

... inspectant la pierre assez cristalline et dure du Washington Memorial (construit en 3 phases donc 3 bancs différents...) mais "réparés" avec un mortier plus calcaire et pas trop "compatible". Il y aura du travail en prévision...

C'est monstrueusement plus grand qu'il ne parait... impressionnant... comme le reste de Washington DC... comme tout les USA!

Then on to the... Capitol

Puis le Mall et le Capitol... sur la gazon clean où il a du y avoir des millions de personnes en Janvier lors de l'Inauguration du President.

First visit... the White House

Première visite pour Obama et la Maison Blanche... mais la First Family est absent... en Russie et Ghana. Alors on se contente de voir le gardien promener le chien. Very cool... Pas de policiers partout... iépressionnant de calme.

Atterrissage reussie!

Premiers pas aux... USA pour Flynt and Hunter. Un peu groggy du voyage mais heureux et impressionnés déjà.
